New Covid rules in Paris

With the start of the new year, new rules apply: first, wearing masks is now compulsory everywhere in Paris except in Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes, for anyone 6 years old and up.

Over 1000 people were fined 135€ on New Years Eve for not wearing a mask, again: eveywhere in Paris you must have one on your nose and mouth. FFP2/N95 are still not officially recommended but they protect better in closed places.

Self-tests are now available at around 3€ in supermarkets.

If you test positive, you must now isolate 7 days – reduced to 5 if a test comes negative then. Add three more days to this rule if you aren’t vaccinated.

The big change concerns contact cases: If fully vaccinated, one doesn’t need to isolate anylonger.

Working from home is now mandatory at least 3 days per week, with fines of 1000€ per employee now enforced.

On Feb 15th, the QR codes of those who have not received a third dose seven months after the second dose will be deactivated. You can now book a third dose just three months after your second dose and it can be a different one from the second (Pfizer or Moderna, whichever you find works).

No major restrictions at the moment, only discos remain closed.

Travelling rules also change: no more eating or drinking in public including trains or planes, except long hauls. You need a 24h antigen test to board a plane to the USA, the French West Indies or Italy, and 72h PCR for much of the World.

With 10% of tests being positive and over 200,000 positive tests per day, the omicron is spreading quickly. Stay safe!
