This weekend, the “Left, Right and Center” journalists’ panel wonders whether the US Supreme Court rule known as “Roe versus Wade” legalizing abortion is dead after the its non-intervention following the decision of the State of Texas. KCRW’s “Left, Right and Center” airs each Saturday at 11am on WRP.

Back to school, back on air

Kids are back in school, Parisians have returned with a tan, traffic jams have resumed. It’s La Rentrée!

WRP is also resuming its regular local programming: The Earful Tower has started its 10th season, Join us in France passed the 350th episode, La Vie Creative continues to feature talented expats, and so many other great shows broadcast each week (some every other week or once a month) on our station.

Important road rule to change in Paris

With the exception of a few major roads (like Champs Elysées) and the ring roads (Périphérique and Marécheaux), the speed limit is lowered down to 30 Km per hour. This decision by the city council is intended to reduce traffic in the city by forcing drivers to prefer public transports – just like the recent dramatic increase in parking fees and tickets. Officially this is put in place to lower noise levels in the city, but it is no secret that the current Mayor Anne Hidalgo is leaning towards the idea of a car-free city.

A Site Visit to Station F

This episode uncovers the ways in which this former rail depot became the world’s largest business incubator for start-ups and what that means in the context of a knowledge-based economy.

Reusing the 1920s Halle Freyssinet is a compelling example of the entangled fragments of the railway and the industrial economy and the conversion towards a knowledge-based economy. This process pacifies the perception of high tech industries by familiarising itself with its industrial past. Station F is at the crossroads of an attempt to disavow the historical past whilst being unable to untether itself from it.
